The earliest comps. with preps. are whereat, whereby, wherein (XIII), whereof (XII), wherethrough, whereupon (XIII), wherewith (XII); later are whereunto (XV), wherewithal (XVI).
So wherefor for what purpose or cause XII; for which XIII; (now -fore) on what account; sb. cause, reason XVI.
