meso-

meso-, before a vowel mes-, comb. form of Gr. mésos middle, MID, used in scientific terms of modern formation (XIX), many of which have correls. in PRO-, PROTO- META-; those of mesozoic (geol.) secondary are CAINOZOIC tertiary, PALAEOZOIC primary (all XIX).
