-aceous f. L. -āceus (f. -āc- -AC) + -OUS (cf. -EOUS); in nat. hist. it supplies adjs. for names of groups in -acea, -aceae, e.g. crustaceous pert. to the Crustacea, rosaceous pert. to the Rosaceae.
