Ormond deeds, a collection of manuscripts, formerly preserved in Kilkenny Castle, the family seat of the Butlers, earls and later dukes of Ormond, now in the National Library of Ireland. The manuscripts include the most important Anglo‐Norman family archive in Ireland, which were edited in six volumes by Edmund Curtis for the Irish Manuscripts Commission (1932–43). Other medieval deeds from this collection were edited by N. B. White in The Red Book of Ormond (1932) and Irish Monastic and Episcopal Deeds, A. D. 1200–1600 (1936). In addition, there still exists in the National Library an extensive collection of 16th‐ and 17th‐century deeds, unpublished, sometimes uncatalogued, and largely unresearched.
