Galway, articles of

Galway, articles of (21 July 1691), agreed at the surrender of the Jacobite garrison following a brief siege in the Williamite War. The terms, securing the inhabitants and garrison in their estates and guaranteeing freedom of religious worship and the right of Catholic lawyers to practise their profession, anticipated those of the treaty of Limerick.
