Edmundson, William (1627–1712), Quaker. Born in Westmorland, he served in the Cromwellian army in Scotland before setting up as a merchant, in Waterford and then in Co. Antrim. Converted to the Society of Friends in 1653, he became an it‐inerant preacher, and from the early 1660s was the recognized leader of Irish Quakerism.
