train-tackle, a tackle used during battle in the days of the muzzle-loading broadside guns of the wooden ships of war. It was hooked to an eyebolt in the train of a wooden gun carriage and to a ringbolt in the deck, and used to prevent the gun from running out of the port while it was being loaded, and for running it in after firing for reloading.
