trabacolo

trabacolo, or trabaccolo, a 17th–19th-century coasting vessel of medium size, peculiar to the Adriatic and the waters around Italy. They were used mainly for trade but occasionally as transports for troops. Some had one mast, some two, and they were variously rigged according to the choice of the owner, but frequently with a lateen rig.
