mollymawk is a seafarer's name for several species of small, black-backed albatross including Diomedia melanophrys, but according to Webster's Dictionary it is also applied to fulmars. The name is derived from a Dutch word mallemowk, meaning foolish gull, because seafarers found them so easy to catch when they landed on ships.
