jigger-mast

jigger-mast, a small mast set right aft in some smaller sailing craft, and a name sometimes given to the after mast of a small yawl, though this is more properly called a mizzen, and to the small mast set right aft in some spritsail barges. It is also the name given to the fourth mast of a five- or six-masted schooner, and sometimes used for the fourth mast of a four-masted square-rigger.
