isolated danger mark, a
buoy, normally a
pillar, or
spar, buoy, used in the
IALA maritime buoyage system. It is erected on, or
moored on or above, an isolated danger which has navigable water all around it. It is coloured black with one or more broad horizontal red bands, and has a distinctive topmark of two black spheres, one above the other. The
characteristic of its light, when fitted, is a white light group flashing (2) within a period of five or ten seconds.
