Olaf, St (c.995–1030), king of Norway as Olaf II Haraldsson, reigned 1016–30, canonized for his attempts to spread Christianity in his kingdom. He was forced into exile by a rebellion in 1028 and killed in battle at Stiklestad while attempting to return. He is the patron saint of Norway. Feast day, 29 July.
