Yenakiyeve, Ukraine Rykovo, Ordzhonikidze, Yenakiyevo Founded as a mining settlement called Yenakiyevo in 1883 with the name probably associated with its founder or owner, one Yenakiyev. It was renamed in 1928 after Aleksey Rykov (1881–1938), who became President of the Council of People's Commissars (i.e. premier) after Lenin's death in 1924. Labelled a right‐winger, he was forced to stand down in 1930; he was a major defendant in the third show trial in Moscow in 1938, convicted, and executed. Three years before his execution when he was already discredited, the town was renamed after Grigory ( Sergo) Ordzhonikidze. Once his reputation became tarnished, the town reverted to its original name in 1943.
