Skagerrak, Denmark‐Norway A strait between Norway and Denmark named after the city‐port of Skagen on the northern tip of the Danish island of Jutland with the Swedish rak ‘open channel’ or ‘straight way’ of Dutch/Low German origin. Thus the meaning is an ‘Open Channel past Skagen’.
