Saparmurad Türkmenbashi

Saparmurad Türkmenbashi, Turkmenistan Oktyabr′sk Originally named to commemorate the Bolshevik October Revolution in 1917, it was renamed in honour of Saparmurad Niyazov (1940–2006) after he had become president of Turkmenistan in 1991 and took the title Türkmenbashi ‘Head of the Turkmen’.
