Qiryat Shemona

Qiryat Shemona, Israel Khalasah ‘Town of the Eight’, a reference to the group of six men and two women who died at nearby Tel Hai defending their settlement against Arab guerrillas in 1920. It was founded as a transit camp for immigrants in 1950 on the site of the Arab village of Khalasah.
