Paide, Estonia Paelinn, Weissenstein Many buildings are built of limestone, hence the name ‘(Town of) Limestone’ from
paekivi ‘limestone’. The original name meant ‘Fort of Limestone’ from
linn ‘fort’, while the German name, Weissenstein, meant ‘White Stone’.
