Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia Lesser Sunda Islands Two provinces, East Nusa Tenggara (Flores, Sumba, West Timor, and scattered islands) and West Nusa Tenggara (Lombok and Sumbawa), together meaning the ‘South‐East Islands’ from nusa ‘island’ and tenggara ‘south‐east’. The Lesser Sunda Islands are in contrast to the Greater Sunda Islands (Java, Kalimantan, and Sumatra).
