Manzil Bu Ruqaybah

Manzil Bu Ruqaybah, Tunisia Ferryville Founded in 1880 by the French and named ‘Town of Ferry’ after the French premier, Jules François Camille Ferry (1832–93), who strongly supported French colonial activities in Africa. When the French left in 1963 the town was renamed after Habib ibn Ali Bourguiba (1903–2000), the first President of Tunisia (1957–87). The Arabic manzil means ‘stopping place’. The name is also spelt Menzel Bourguiba.
