Cape Virgenes, Argentina ‘Cape of the Virgins’, so named by Ferdinand Magellan^† who sighted it on 21 October 1521, then the feast day of St Ursula and the legendary 11 000 virgins. Her feast day was removed from the universal calendar during its reform in 1969. See Virgin Islands.
