democratic leader

democratic leader A leader who maintains an egalitarian atmosphere within the group and who is prepared to delegate planning, decision making, and other responsibilities to followers. Experimental studies of leadership style have found that work groups with democratic leaders tend to be more flexible, innovative, and highly motivated than those with authoritarian leaders or laissez-faire leaders.
