authoritarian leader

authoritarian leader A leader who makes all major decisions himself or herself and takes a highly dominant role in interactions with subordinates. Experimental studies of leadership style have found that work groups with authoritarian leaders tend to be more discontented than those with democratic leaders or laissez-faire leaders and to be less productive than such groups when the leader is absent.
