International Telecommunication Union

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) A special agency of the United Nations founded in Paris in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union. It sets up international regulations for telegraph, telephone, and radio services; promotes international cooperation for the improvement of telecommunications; and is concerned with the development of technical facilities. It is responsible for the allocation and registration of radio frequencies for communications. Its headquarters are in Geneva.
