de Liagre, Alfred, Jr. (1904–87), producer and director. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, De Liagre was a Yale graduate who entered the theatre in 1930, working at the Woodstock Playhouse and serving as stage manager for a New York revival of Twelfth Night. With Richard Aldrich he produced Three Cornered Moon (1933) and several other plays, the most successful of which was Petticoat Fever (1935). In 1937 De Liagre began producing on his own. His best‐known productions, many of which he directed, included Yes, My Darling Daughter (1937), Mr. and Mrs. North (1941), The Voice of the Turtle (1943), The Madwoman of Chaillot (1948), Second Threshold (1951), The Deep Blue Sea (1952), the Phoenix Theatre production of The Golden Apple (1954), Janus (1955), J. B.. (1958), and Photo Finish (1963). With Roger Stevens he produced the long‐running thriller Deathtrap (1978).
