Tipton, Jennifer

Tipton, Jennifer (b. 1937), lighting designer. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, and educated at Connecticut College and Cornell before apprenticing with Thomas Skelton and making her New York design bow in 1969. Tipton has designed for dance companies, regional theatres, and avant‐garde performance pieces. Among her memorable theatre productions are Our Town (1969), The Cherry Orchard (1977), The Pirates of Penzance (1981), Sophisticated Ladies (1981), Alice in Wonderland (1982), Hurlyburly (1984), Singin' in the Rain (1985), Jerome Robbins' Broadway (1989), La Bête (1991), In the Summer House (1993) The Hairy Ape (1997), and James Joyce's The Dead (2000).
