Theatre Communications Group. Calling itself “the national organization for the nonprofit professional theatre,” it was founded in 1961 to serve the needs of the growing regional theatre movement. It assists with casting, job placement, management, and research problems and also issues numerous publications, such as its magazine,
American Theatre (which concentrates on regional theatre and gives short shrift to Broadway); reissues of out‐of‐print plays; and other works covering a wide range of theatrical matters.
