Natwick, Mildred (1905–94), actress. The Baltimore native made her stage debut in her hometown in 1929 and first appeared in New York in 1932 in
Carry Nation. A versatile performer, she was active for nearly forty years. Perhaps her most‐remembered comic roles were the outlandish medium Madame Arcati in
Blithe Spirit (1941), the looney Mme. St. Pé in
Waltz of the Toreadors (1957), the harassed mother Mrs. Banks in
Barefoot in the Park (1963), and the crafty thief Ida Dodd in
70, Girls, 70 (1971).
