ideal gas law Law relating pressure, temperature and volume of a hypothetical ideal (perfect) gas: pV = NkT, where N is the number of molecules of the gas, and k is a constant of proportionality. This law implies that at constant temperature (T), the product of pressure and volume (pV) is constant (Boyle's law); and at constant pressure, the volume is proportional to the temperature (Charles' law).
