cleft palate
cleft palate Congenital deformity in which there is an opening in the roof of the mouth, causing direct communication between the nasal and mouth cavities. It is often associated with
harelip and makes normal speech difficult. Usual treatment includes surgical correction, followed by special dental care and speech therapy if necessary.
