cerebral hemispheres Lateral halves of the cerebrum, the largest parts of the brain and the sites of higher thought. Due to the crossing over of nerve fibres from one cerebral hemisphere to the other, the right side controls most of the movements and sensation on the left side of the body, and vice-versa. Damage to cerebral hemispheres can produce personality changes.
