Sinclair, Upton Beall
Sinclair, Upton Beall (1878–1968) US novelist and social reformer. In 1906 he published his first novel,
The Jungle, an exposé of the Chicago meat-packing industry, which led to the reform of US food inspection laws. His other novels include
The Money Changers (1908),
King Coal (1917) and
Dragon's Teeth (1942, part of an 11-volume
roman-fleuve entitled
World's End), for which he won a Pulitzer Prize.
