Powell, ‘Bud’

Powell, ‘Bud’ ( Earl) (1924–66) US jazz pianist. A key figure in the development of be-bop, he gained a grounding with the Louis Armstrong All Stars (1953–66) and played with Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, and Charlie Mingus.
