Mayan Family of languages spoken on the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, and in Guatemala and part of Belize by the Maya. There are several dozen of these languages, the most important being Yucatec (in Mexico), and Quiché, Cakchiquel, Mam, and Kekchi (in Guatemala).
