Clarke, Arthur C.
Clarke, Arthur C. ( Charles) (1917– ) English science- fiction writer. He is noted for the scientific realism of his works, such as
Childhood's End (1953),
A Fall of Moondust (1961) and
Voices from the Sky (1965). Stanley Kubrick's film
2001: A Space Odyssey (1969) was based on his short story
The Sentinel (1951). Clarke has since written two sequels –
2010: Odyssey Two (1982) and
2061: Odyssey Three (1987).
