ophiolite
ophiolite (ophiolite complex) Sequence of rock types, consisting of deep-sea
sediments lying above basaltic
pillow lavas,
dykes,
gabbro, and
ultramafic peridotite. Some are the remnants of main
oceanic crust, others of crust formed in
back-arc basins.
