V-Force

V-Force, British guerrilla organization formed by the C-in-C India, General Wavell, in April 1942, to attack Japanese lines of communication should the Japanese invade Assam during the Burma campaign. It was built around units loaned from the Assam Rifles, which were supplemented by 1,000 Burmese hill tribesmen, and each of its six groups was responsible for an area that bordered India and Burma. When the Japanese attack did not materialize it operated intelligence-gathering patrols which were especially useful in collecting information of short-term tactical value. Z-force patrols were much smaller and were used to gather intelligence much deeper inside Japanese-held territory.
