Stetsko, Yaroslav

Stetsko, Yaroslav (1912–86),born in Tarnopol (Ternopil) in Austrian Galicia and a member of the pre-war Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). He was prime minister of the independent Ukrainian state proclaimed in Lwów (Lviv) on 30 June 1941. Having refused to collaborate with the Nazis, he was arrested on 12 July and interned in Sachsenhausen along with another Ukrainian nationalist, Stepan Bandera. After the war Stetsko served as chairman of the OUN and was active in the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations and the World Anti-Communist League. See alsoUkraine.
