Raiding Support Regiment

Raiding Support Regiment, British special forces unit formed by Raiding Forces in November 1943. Designed to give heavy weapons back-up to other units in Raiding Forces, it was organized into five batteries: mountain guns, machine-guns, mortars, anti-aircraft, and anti-tank guns. It was stationed on Vis, the nearest of the Dalmatian Islands to Italy, taking part in raids against German-occupied Yugoslavia and supporting Tito and the Partisans there. When the Balkan Air Force was formed in June 1944 it became part of its ground component, Land Forces Adriatic.
