Permanent Joint Board on Defence

Permanent Joint Board on Defence, advisory committee formed by Canada and the USA in August 1940 to study joint defence problems. Established by the Ogdensburg agreement, it comprised two national sections each composed of a civilian chairman, and representatives of the armed forces and foreign service. It was especially influential while the USA was neutral, and is still in existence.
