Marrakesh conferences

Marrakesh conferences, held in a villa at Marrakesh in French Morocco where Churchill was convalescing. The first two, with Churchill in the chair, were held on 7 and 8 January 1944 to discuss the proposed landings at Anzio. Those present included Beaverbrook, Generals Alexander, Devers, Bedell Smith, and Maitland Wilson, and Admiral John Cunningham. Churchill also conferred with de Gaulle on 12 January.
