Komorowski, Lt-General Count Tadeusz

Komorowski, Lt-General Count Tadeusz (1895–1966),Polish cavalry officer who, after fighting in the Polish campaign, initially commanded the Union for Armed Struggle (Zwizek Walki Zbrojnej, or ZWZ), the Polish Home Army from February 1942, in the Cracow area. He then became its deputy commander, and finally, after Rowecki had been captured in July 1943, its commander. After ordering the start of the Warsaw rising of August 1944 he was captured but survived imprisonment in Colditz. After the war he went into exile in the UK. He added ‘Bor’ in front of his name as his nom de guerre was ‘General Bor’.
