Hyde Park Declaration

Hyde Park Declaration, economic agreement between Canada and the USA which was signed by Roosevelt and Mackenzie King on 20 April 1941 at Hyde Park, the American president's home on the Hudson River. It was designed to help ease Canada's financial problems in aiding the UK's war effort. The simple six-paragraph document stated that Canada and the USA would provide each other with the matériel each was best able to produce; and that if Canada required American component parts for equipment and munitions needed by the UK, they could be acquired by the UK under the terms of Lend-Lease.
