Déricourt, Henri

Déricourt, Henri (1909–62),French airman, pre-war V-man for the Nazi security service, the Sicherheitsdient or SD (see RSHA). He may then have been recruited by MI6, which knew of his SD connection, brought to London in September 1942 to join SOE's French Section, and in January 1943 was sent to France as an Air Movements Officer. He was ordered to return in February 1944 after he was suspected of betraying SOE's PROSPER network to the SD. An SOE tribunal found his treachery ‘not proven’ but he was not allowed to return to France until after the war when he was tried there for his wartime activities. He was found not guilty, and though it is now clear that he did betray some colleagues, he was not ordered to do so by MI6 as part of any deception plan. He was killed in an air crash in French Indo-China.
