Anzac area

Anzac area, Pacific command formed in January 1942. It was a sea command only and came under a US naval officer, Vice-Admiral H. F. Leary. Its naval squadron, Anzac force, comprised a number of Australian, New Zealand, and US warships and was commanded by Rear-Admiral J. G. Crace. The Command was dissolved on 22 April 1942 and both area and force were then absorbed into South-West Pacific Area or South Pacific Area commands.
