Alam Halfa, battle of

Alam Halfa, battle of, fought from 30 August to 7 September 1942 when Rommel made his last attempt to break through the British line defending Egypt. It was, from the British point of view, one of the best examples of army–air co-operation in the Western Desert campaigns.
