Palmer, Joel

Palmer, Joel (1810–81), pioneer of the Pacific Northwest, who left his Indiana home (1845) for the voyage to Oregon described in his Journal of Travels Over the Rocky Mountains (1847), an account that became a guide for later emigrants.
