Old Swimmin'‐Hole, The, and 'Leven More Poems

Old Swimmin'‐Hole, The, and 'Leven More Poems, first book by James Whitcomb Riley, published in 1883 under the pseudonym “ Benj. F. Johnson, of Boone,” but having the author's own name in brackets. The poems were originally written for The Indianapolis Journal, and include When the Frost Is on the Punkin. These simple, sentimental poems in the homely Hoosier dialect established Riley's popularity.
