New York Review and Athenaeum Magazine, The

New York Review and Athenaeum Magazine, The (1825–26), monthly literary journal which superseded The Atlantic Magazine, was edited by R.C. Sands, Bryant, and others. Among the contributors were Halleck, Longfellow, N.P. Willis, George Bancroft, and the elder R.H. Dana. Lack of an aggressive policy brought about its merger with The United States Literary Gazette.
