New‐England Magazine, The

New‐England Magazine, The (1831–35), is considered the most important magazine published in New England before the Atlantic Monthly. Contributors included Longfellow, Holmes, Whittier, Everett, Noah Webster, J.G. Percival, and Hawthorne. In politics it favored Webster and Everett, opposed Van Buren. It was absorbed by the American Monthly Magazine.
