Münsterberg, Hugo (1863–1916),born in Danzig, was educated in Germany, where he was a professor of philosophy and psychology until he came to the U.S. to teach psychology at Harvard (1892–95, 1897–1916). There he distinguished himself in the fields of applied psychology and philosophy, and wrote such books as
The Principles of Art Education (1905);
The Eternal Values (1909), an idealistic view of philosophy, morality, and aesthetics; and
American Traits from the Point of View of a German (1901).
